Kaluku has a bunch of A-frame bungalows in a shaded setting looking out to sea about half-way up the east coast of Gili Air. We offer interested divers with a minimum Rescue Diver certification, 2 – 4 month internships to become PADI Divemaster and PADI Instructor. The first half of your internship you dive and get to know our locations, as well as train for your certification. In the second half of your internship you have the opportunity to practice your new acquired skills in a friendly and relaxed work environment.

All courses are taught in small groups (max 4 students), taught by experienced PADI Instructors. Should there be more participants than 4 students, a PADI Divemaster will accompany you. For all our guests we provide liability release coverage.

If you prefer to stay in Senggigi, you can do your course in our Divecenter Sheraton Senggigi (theory and pool-sessions) or join our daily transport service to and from the islands. If you would like to stay overnight at the Gilis during a course, we will transfer you there and afterwards back to Senggigi.

Courses always include equipment, book, certification and liability insurance. Our goal: safety and fun in a familiar atmosphere.

Also called Nitrox or “EANx” and for 30 years already used by professional divers, Nitrox allows you to expand your bottom time. With proper training Nitrox makes diving more safe than diving with normal air: the course will give you the necessary knowledge and all skills to enjoy Nitrox dives safely and with fun. PADI’s new IDC was split into two parts in 2001: After completing the Assistant Instructor Course (AI), you have already mastered the first four days of the whole IDC and are now entitled to participate at the following OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor) program.

Its priority is, to expand your skills for teaching. With self study, normal lessons and practical application you will learn how to give presentations and how to conduct the following PADI courses and programs: PADI Skin Diver, PADI Speciality Courses, Peak Performance Buoyancy & Project AWARE, Discover Scuba, Discover Local Diving and Discover Snorkelling, as well as the teaching of the Open Water Diver Course in the classroom, pool and open water.

PADI Instructor Development Course, IDC (9 days)
As a Divemaster, you have brought your skills and your theoretical knowledge to perfection. As an Instructor, you will give your knowledge and your skills to others. As soon as you are certified as a PADI Divemaster or Assistant Instructor you can go on with your training to become an instructor. The newly revised IDC consists of two parts. The Assistant Instructor program (AI = 3 days) and the Open Water Scuba Instructor program (OWSI = 4 days).

Should you feel, that your knowledge of Divemaster theory or your skills are maybe a bit “rusty”, you can take part in the 2 day IDC preparation course. This course is, with us, free of charge and we will fit it to your personal needs. During the IDC, with help from course materials, you will conduct theory, pool and open water presentations to gain experience on how to teach theory and practice.

You will also get a clearer understanding of the PADI philosophy of continuing education,the available programs and learn more about important marketing strategies. We are required by law to register all guests with the local authorities. This is a simple procedure. The Manager will take care of the registration details.

Check In Time
Check in time is 2pm. However, if you will be arriving earlier, that is OK if we don’t have people checking out the same day. We will make all efforts to move you to your room at your required time.

Check Out Time
We are fairly flexible concerning needing extra time in the resort due to a later flight or boat trip. Normal check out time is 11am. There is a late checkout fee. Please advise how much time you will actually need to stay longer in your room.

Night Entrance
The restaurant usually closes between 11pm & midnight. Once the restaurant closes the night entrance is open which runs down the side of the building. The night security is on duty & if you have left your key with reception it will be transferred to the key safety box with the security.

Breakfast
Your room rate includes breakfast. Please choose from the breakfast selection menu. Breakfast finishes at midday.

AC
We need to preserve our power as much as possible. Power on Gili Trawangan is not in abundance. When you are out for the day please assist in switching off your AC. Actually, when both bathroom door & the sliding door are open, a lovely breeze sweeps through.

Smoking Policy
There is an ashtray provided on the table on your deck, smoking inside the bedroom is not permitted.

WI FI
Scallywags has internet to rooms and Wi-Fi in the restaurant. Please ask for the network key.

Massage
We have an in-house massage therapist who is on call. Ask a staff member to book a massage, the charge is Rp150,000 per hour & will be charged to your room payable on check out

Safety Box
Please read the instructions on top of the safety box for opening & closing. It is a very good idea to use the safety deposit boxes provided. Do not leave your valuables lying around when you are not in your room. Lock away your passports, travellers cheques, & valuables. Scallywags is a safe haven, however we cannot be held responsible for the loss of any items. Please leave the safe doors open when departing so we can re-programme the entry numbers.

Hot Water
The hot water is solar powered. Please be aware that the hot water is very hot therefore it is important to turn the shower on to left for cold first & then slowly move it to the right to introduce hot water for your desired temperature.

Fresh Water
The resort has a desalination unit. We have even installed a separate potable drinking water service to your hand basins therefore you don’t have to use bottled water for brushing your teeth & filling the kettle. We are also producing our own crystal clear ice for your drinks and fresh fish display.

Towels
In an effort to preserve the environment if you don’t require your towels to be serviced place them on the towel rail, if you’d like fresh towels leave the towel on the floor.

Laundry
Scallywags have a laundry service, place the required items in the black laundry bag provided & fill out the laundry form. Housekeeping will take the laundry when they come to clean your room.

Tipping

The question is often asked, “should I tip and when?” If you have enjoyed your stay with us and would like to leave a tip for the staff we suggest that, instead of singling one or two people out, leave your tip in an envelope for the Manager to distribute evenly amongst all of the staff.

Trips
The island is quite small, it only takes 1 1/2hrs to walk around or you can hire a bicycle which is a fun way to see the island. There are many small tracks leading in to the island to the village. Take one of these & see where it leads you. Happy Cycling!
Take a boat over to Gili Meno or Gili Air. The snorkelling over there is as good as here.

Restaurants
Scallywags is obviously the best place to eat but there are others too! Up the road there is an Indian Restaurant – Pesona, if you like Japanese then try Ryoshi. For great tapas try Karma Kayak around the other side of the island. The Terminal by the jetty serves excellent Mexican.

The Blue Marlin bungalows is in Gili Trawangan offer hotel comfort in a relaxed atmosphere and are situated conveniently next to Blue Marlin dive centers. There are twin bed and double bed bungalows available. All have air conditioning and hot water showers. Only a short stroll away, breakfast and morning dive await you. The furthest dive site is only 20 minutes by boat allowing more dives in a day.

All individual bungalows, as close as you can get to the beach (separated by a dirt road from the sand). The rooms were spacious, clean, and simple.

The concrete, one-bedroom bungalows all have verandas and ensuite bathrooms with hot water, and are all equipped with air-conditioning, TVs, double beds or twin beds, wardrobes and desks. A daily cleaning service and breakfast is included.

For dive lovers, a pool for dive training and for chilling out when it gets too hot is available, as well as an air-conditioned classroom for people wanting to do the PADI course.

The restaurant is open from 7 am until 11 pm, offering excellent Indonesian, Western and Thai cuisine, plus BBQs, which are famous on the island! Every Monday night, Blue Marlin becomes the venue for.

The Gili Islands are located off the north-west corner of Lombok. Blue Marlin bungalows are located on Gili Trawangan. You can access Gili Trawangan easily with international flights from Singapore.

Bali is only a 20 minute flight or 2 and a half speedboat journey direct to the island. We are happy to assist you in getting to the island. We have a private air-conditioned car that can meet you at Lombok airport and a speedboat to get you quickly and hassle free to the island.

The more adventures, besides Climbing The Lombok’s famous volcano, Mt Rinjani, and trekking through the natural jungles and forest of the Rinjani National Park, there are a whole host activities available on Lombok the exotic island, east of Bali Island. Visit the Gilis Islands for a castaway experience and spend the days snorkeling and diving the fantastic reefs. neighbors of Trawangan with the underwater scenery, paradise of all divers, good for honeymoon, Meno Island, has white sand where the conservation of hawksbill turtles.

We sell the beautiful Cottage in Gili Meno, the middle island, the smallest of the three Gili’s and it is the quietest with fewer tourists. A great escape for honeymooners or someone who wants to get away from it all.

A special feature of the island is the salt lake and spectacular dive sites such as, Meno Wall, Sea Turtle Point, and Blue Coral Point. The beach on eastern part of the island is very nice and there’s snorkeling just offshore and further north.

In the past Meno was known to have lots of mosquitoes but steps have been taken to control it. Still the best time to visit the island is during dry season.
